History: Remy was one of many foundling children in New Orleans. Unlike most though, he was one that spent several years of his early life as a living art piece in one of the stranger cults to spring up beneath the streets of New Orleans. It was a cult built around the worship of Art and Remy had been kidnapped from the hospital on the day of his birth due to the perfect dimensions of his infant body. His crib was a carefully draped cradle atop a small Roman column and he quickly learned to pose properly when he was mobile. He received a proper classical education of course, as befitted a breathing sculpture, but he was rarely treated as a human.
Then came The Solution. The cult sickened and died around him, leaving Remy to a chance to escape upward to the streets of New Orleans. It certainly wasn't a place six-ish year old boy to thrive alone, so he fell in with one of many packs of children that had become nearly feral in the wake of so many deaths. The street gang had many ways to remain healthy and fed during the unrest of the city and collapse of the world around them, their main tactic was theft though. They stole food. They stole things they could trade for food. They stole games and trinkets and anything they could get their hands on. When he was ten, Remy made the mistake of trying to steal from Jean Luc LeBeau, master of the Thieves Guild.
Rather than punish him for his audacity, Jean Luc adopted Remy into his family, a family that had emerged from the shadows of New Orleans society as a leading family as the city tried to slide into oblivion. The old and established Thieves Guild simply wasn't willing to lose their city. Remy took to adoption with a fierce loyalty, driving himself through every training course Jean Luc and the other family members could devise, because even in a world such as The Solution left behind there were always those willing to pay for things that weren't theirs. When the powers of fire manifested in him he trained those just as hard, often brainstorming long into the night with his brother and father about how to set some of that flame to good use. Before long he was considered his father's left hand man, the side of the devil, the man who was often called to enforce decisions or terrify people who were causing trouble in the kingdom. His brother Marcus was Jean Luc's right hand man, set to inherent and lead, a situation that suited Remy just fine.
He rose to the rank of Master Thief before the age of twenty, despite his many misadventures with his adopted brother Marcus and his best friend Belladonna, able to pick and choose assignments as they take his fancy. He took women in much the same manner, attracted by beauty and audacity, brains and ability. Most one nights stands, well, Remy kept those to oral and no more. Longer relationships he took care of, leaving them a little heartbroken but well 'set up' for finding a decent husband. He rather likes his single status and though his family is one of thieves, they have their traditions. If a woman bears a man's child, that man marries her so all children are raised in the Guild. Remy has no intention of settling down yet, so his jawline is unmarked. To hide this fact he often wears a face framing mask as part of his outfit, or in dire cases marks his cheeks with dyes that wear away in a few days time.
As it stands now he's a solid member of the New Orleans Thieves Guild. He has Tante Matte, the Christian Vaudun woman who looks after the Guild, to keep him on the straight and narrow, his best friend Belladonna to puncture his ego when it gets too large, and his father to keep his adventures in check. He has wine, women, and the ability to see the world as he retrieves items...it's a good life.
